Mr Russell Greenland, MIQA
Mrs Janice Greenland,
Cert.Ed - Avery Hill, London
ISA Inspector, AEGIS Inspector

Mr. & Mrs. Greenland acquired the school in 1977 from Mr. & Mrs. T.J.Heath. During their time at the school they introduced many innovative ideas such as teaching assistants in the classrooms, computers and martial arts.

Mr. Greenland came from the photographic industry where he had been involved in pure research and latterly in product quality control. He brought to the school a sound business background and an understanding of Parents' requirements and expectations for their children.

Mrs. Greenland completed her teaching diploma and taught in a wide range of schools before joining Heathcote School in 1972. She has taught every age group in the school and spent over 20 years as Form II teacher. As a registered inspector Mrs. Greenland is very aware of the standards required by the Independent Schools Joint Council and the Independent School Inspection service.

Mr and Mrs Greenland have recently announced that they have appointed their daughter,

Mrs Carn, as Principal.

Heathcote School has played a major role in my life since I was three years old when I started Nursery here and my mother (Mrs. Greenland) started teaching in KG. The school buildings may have looked very different then to now but what hasn’t changed is the ethos of the school, the excellent teaching and high academic standards or the feeling of warmth and security when you step through the gates.

My parents took over the school when I was in Form IV and although I left to go onto boarding school, I still loved coming home in time for major events like Sports Day and the School Play. Even now I find occasions like these and Badging Day very moving as I remember participating in them myself and feeling all the same emotions as the children do today.

After finishing my A Levels I spent four years working in London before going back to college to study at the London Montessori Centre where I gained my International Gold Diploma. I then gained experience working in Pre-Schools in Bethnal Green and Ilford before coming to work at Heathcote as a teacher in KG for several years before moving into Form II recently.

As part of my preparation for carrying on the family business I am studying for a business management degree and have found this both interesting and stimulating. My other interests include cooking, travelling (as much as possible!) and snorkling / diving. My use of technology and what it can do both for myself and the school has been improved particularly due to the unfailing enthusiasm and creativity of my husband in this area.

Heathcote School is a special place for me, full of many wonderful family memories and I’m sure that both you and your children will make your own special memories here too.
