Heathcote School

Welcome to Heathcote School - a family school for families.

After over 30 years of running the school Mr. & Mrs. Greenland today announced that they have handed the role of Principal over to their daughter, Mrs. Carn.

Mr. Gladwin will continue as headteacher and will now report to Mrs. Carn on a regular basis. Mrs Carn will remain Head of the Lower School and will continue to teach Year II. Read the Letter.

A warm welcome to our school from Head Teacher Ken Gladwin.

Heathcote School is a very successful and inclusive school. We offer a firm foundation for life with small classes and individual attention, making it possible to explore and develop every child's potential.

I believe that education is about preparing and equipping young people for life, not just for school. With this philosophy as our inspiration, Heathcote School provides a stimulating environment where children enjoy learning and are encouraged and challenged to perform to the best of their ability in all areas of our extensive curriculum.

With children encouraged to set their own high standards, performance levels at Heathcote School are often outstanding in both academic and vocational areas. With no measure of success being considered too small to celebrate, our highly committed and caring staff will always convey this message to our children. Read more.......

Mrs Carn - Heathcote School Principal

I'm delighted to be continuing the family ethos of the school as Principal and am equally excited about leading the school into the future.  Heathcote has always been a very important part of my life and I feel very fortunate to be able to accept this position with such a superb team to work with.  I will also be drawing on the experience that my parents have gained during their time as Principals and making full use of the technological skills that my husband and his company can offer the school (as with the website).

Heathcote School has played a major role in my life since I was three years old when I started Nursery here and my mother (Mrs. Greenland) started teaching in KG. The school buildings may have looked very different then to now but what hasn't changed is the ethos of the school, the excellent teaching and high academic standards or the feeling of warmth and security when you step through the gates.

Heathcote School is a special place for me, full of many wonderful family memories and I'm sure that both you and your children will make your own special memories here too.

Heathcote School Sports Day

Weren't we lucky on Sports Day ! The sun shone for the races, we had rain while the presentations took place and then back came the sun for tea in the garden. A great time was had by all, except Zowie for whom we wish a swift recovery. Mr Greenland stepped in to present the trophies at the last minute as Rodney Bass was unable to come due to a family bereavement. Mr G deserves a big star and a big hankie as he, and many others, found it rather emotional.

As always at this time of the year we have to say goodbye to some children, many of whom have been with us since they were three years old. Good luck to you all, we will miss every one of you but know you will all succeed wherever the future takes you. Please come back and tell us how you are getting on
