Toddler Time Dates
Wednesday May13th, Monday June 8th.

All run from 9.30am to 11am. These are held in the Pre-school area or the hall at the school. We hope to see many of you with your Toddlers and babies.

From 9.00am the Parents Association will serve refreshments in the small hall and you are invited to attend with your Toddler and/or baby. .

Don't forget that our Sports Day is on Friday July 3rd and you will receive an invitation. Most people bring a picnic around mid-day and sit with their champagne, or beer, or flasks of tea, to enjoy the sun (yes, it usually shines) and get to know the other parents who will be similarly engaged. Children have to be taken to the school at 12.30pm for registration.

For those parents who will be joining Pre-school soon a meeting is being held at the school on June 16th at 7pm. We hope you will be able to attend  to find out more about the coming year.

Tiny Events - Mad Hats Party- March 12th 2009
Another fun time with new friends and lots of things to do including eating Hot Cross Buns!

Tiny Events - Santa's Surprise - Dec 3rd 2008

What a super morning everyone had; twenty two small children and one Father Christmas make for a fun time. Before HE arrived the children played games and decorated Christmas cookies with lots of lovely runny icing which they then sprinkled with hundreds and thousands before presenting them proudly to very appreciative adults. Sticky but memorable! Santa came complete with sack and a present for everyone. Finally it was time to leave, sticky biscuits and presents clutched in happy children's hands. Same time next year please Santa!

Dear Parents,
This week we held our first Getting to Know Us evening and were delighted with the response. Thank you to those people who were able to join us, I hope you found the evening enjoyable and informative.
After Mr. Gladwin had welcomed the guests Mrs. Norton, the Registrar, told parents about the part the office staff play in the life of the children at the school. It is the first point of call for the parents and is also the place where the children come with messages and when they are unwell. Mrs. Norton gave everyone a document entitled 'Why We Cuddle', a copy of this is on the website.
Mrs Solsberg discussed financial matters including childcare vouchers and methods of paying fees. She distributed a handout with full details and this can also be found on the website. Please contact her if you have any questions about this.
Mrs Smith gave a brief outline of life in Pre-school and the variety of activities they children enjoy. Children may join Pre-school when they are three but are welcome to come for pre-visits beforehand and also attend Toddler Times.
Mrs Carn outlined the progression of children from Pre-school through to year 2, the top class in Pre-prep.
We are very grateful to Mrs. Northfield, our new Parents Association Chairperson, who spoke about the PA and what it does for your children. She emphasised that the PA is a registered charity, totally independent of the school. It raises money to give the pupils ‘extras', luxuries that enhance life in the school. Each year the PA also makes a donation to a charity. All registered parents will be invited to PA events
Finally Mr. Gladwin said how much the school is a big family and that we wanted people to feel part of that family from the day they register their child. There will be more opportunities for families with children not yet in the school, to participate in the life of the school. Heathcote School is a very special place, and each pupil is a very special person who is valued for themselves.
There was plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion and to achieve the main point of the event - ‘Getting to Know Each Other'. While the wine and juice flowed to lubricate throats dry from talking, not much food was eaten. People were too busy making new friends.
This was a very positive event and, as so often happens when we get the opportunity to chat informally with parents, we came away with great suggestions to contribute to the school's success. The new website grew from a similar meeting and we really value your opinions and suggestions.
We also appreciate Parents who have skills and talents that they make available to the school. In the past we have had visits from parents who are bankers, bricklayers, farmers and a variety of other occupations. We have had visits from parents from different faiths and cultures, from Grandparents with stories of their childhood and from parents who are happy to share their hobbies such as model making, stamp collecting, knitting and many others. All of these visits add to the rich tapestry of the education that our children enjoy. If you would like to participate in this way please let us know.
Toddler Times
These are occasions for you to bring your little ones who are not yet in Pre-school ( or not attending Preschool on the TT day) to spend an hour playing together and with members of pre-school. They will get to know each other and the staff while you enjoy becoming acquainted over a cup of coffee.
Tiny Events
Santa's Surprise - On Wednesday December 3rd you are invited to bring your Toddler to join Pre-school for tea and a visit from Father Christmas. Please let us know by November 19th November if you will be coming - Father Christmas will need to know!
Phanfare
This photo gallery is available for all parents of registered children to see, if your child comes to any of our Tiny Events, the chances are their picture will be on Phanfare. Security around Phanfare is tight therefore to gain access to Phanfare you should first contact Mrs. Carn at principal@heathcoteschool.co.uk and she will advise you.

Please remember if you have any questions about the school or suggestions about how we can improve our service to you, just ring or email us and we will be pleased to help.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
