Testimonials

Following our recent Open Day on 25th May here are a few of the letters recieved by the school: -

Dear Miss Petersen

I am writing to express my feelings about the recent open day at Heathcote School on Saturday.  We saw an advertisment for this event in Ramsden Bellhouse and we were delighted that we came along.  The atmosphere at the school was excellent with  everyone making us feel very welcome.  The staff are clearly dedicated and commited to the school and I was amazed at how polite and enthusiastic the children were too.  We brought our 17 month old daughter with us to the open day and the young children of your school involved her in their play, ensuring that she was having fun and enjoying herself - which she most definitely did.

Yourself and Mr Ewan gave informative and interesting tours of both the upper and lower schools and the work that we saw on display was of an incredibly high standard.

We have been very impressed by your school - the relaxed but hard working ethos shone through and we can't wait until Lillian is old enough to join you.

Thank you so much for making us so welcome, we thoroughly enjoyed our morning at Heathcote.

With Best wishes

Mrs A Warren

Heathcote School fulfils its vision of enabling pupils to realise their full potential by developing the whole child by encouraging them to partake in a huge range of academic, sporting, cultural and leisure activities.

Pupils learn and play with enthusiastic enquiring minds, in a secure, cheerful and innovative environment, where their self-esteem and independence is elevated, enabling them to strive to achieve the best, according to their ability. Their personal growth is achieved by implementing an individual learning journey that encourages their personal potential.

The dedicated staff are professional and committed, working enthusiastically with children and parents to promote the vision of this happy community, whilst, also, providing excellent pastoral care and promoting respect, good manners and high moral values amongst the pupils.

Heathcote School

I have been part of Heathcote School since 1989 – 2006 as a parent, but crossed the line and joined ‘the other side’ as a member of staff in September 2001-July 2005.

Heathcote is a very caring school and treats each child with respect, dignity and care.  Each child is special to the school and is giving a learning plan. Each child is very much part of the family ethos of the school.  The school has always implemented its own inclusion policy.  No child is barred except in exceptional circumstances.  All children are given a chance to bloom and develop, and work towards independence with support from dedicated teachers. Over the years I have personally witnessed children who have floundered at other schools, to develop and persevere into their own personalities, and achieve outstanding successes in their own way.  Each child deserves a second chance, and Heathcote School makes this a priority.

I became a KG teacher in September 2001 for two years and loved every minute. I received support from the management team, attended courses, represented the school at county level, promote the school during sports activities and be part of a programme to help different charities.

Heathcote is an outstanding school with superb, hard working and dedicated staff who always put children first.

Mrs A Groves

During the eight years that our son has attended Heathcote School I have never once had the slightest doubt that choosing this school was the best decision we could have made. He never complains in the morning about going to school and will always happily tell us about what has or hasn’t been going on in the classroom and the playground. Now, as we head towards the last couple of months at Heathcote, I know that it will not only be our son who leaves with many treasured and special memories, but all of our family … including Granny!

The family is at the heart of this lovely school where every teacher knows and takes care of every child. Individuality is encouraged as is ability and success way beyond the confines of the National Curriculum. Specialised teaching, high levels of pastoral care, risk taking opportunities and every day challenges are just some of the qualities of this school which make me confident in the knowledge that this was the right school for our son.

The government had to produce a document entitled Every Child Matters – they must have taken the title from Heathcote where, since the doors first opened 75 years ago, every child has always mattered!
