In September the whole school walk up to the parish church of St. John for a Harvest Festival service of thanksgiving. The children carry their offerings with them and, at the appropriate point in the service, they are taken to the high altar and blessed by the priest, the Reverend Dr. Graham Blythe, before being passed on to CHESS, the Chelmsford charity for the homeless. The school also has an 'as new' collection for CHESS.
