School Uniform

Just a gentle reminder to everyone about school uniform....

Please would boys ensure that their top buttons on their shirts are done up and their ties pushed up to their collars.
Please would girls remember that their hair accessories should be royal blue.

Please would both boys and girls remember that hair should be tied back if it is falling over your eyes when you are working. Long hair should be neatly tied back.

Lastly, don't forget that for health and safety reasons earrings are no longer permitted in school.

Thankyou.

Heathcote Celebrates Chinese New Year!

What a fantastic way to end the day today! At 3pm in the front playground we had a chinese cookery demonstration by one of the chefs from Classic Tastes in Danbury. This was kindly organised for us by Mrs Cericki along with Fortune cookies for the children to sell. The food was delicious and we managed to raise over £100 for Danbury St. John's church too. Happy New Year

Hopefully I have entered the world of Blogging and this will be on the school blogsite! Despite the cold and the snow we ( the staff) have been in school yesterday and today making sure that all is ready for your little angels to return to school on Wednesday. I can hear the Hurrahs echoing around the ether already.
I trust you all had a great Christmas with no nasties in sight. If we believe everything we hear this is going to be a difficult year for everyone. 'They' said that at other times - in the 70's, the 80's and the 90's and to a certain extent 'they' were right. What 'they' didn't tell us was that we would come through the other side; it may have been a rocky ride but we did come through, leaner and fitter and a lot wiser. I was there and I survived, you will too, so look forward with optimism and and positive thoughts about this being the best year yet!
Heathcote certainly is looking forward with that attitude- this school also went through the ups and downs of the past and is still here. We simply tighten our belts and get on with what we do superbly - educating your children. Our new Foundation Years area has been set up with the needs of the future well in mind. These children will benefit from a fresh approach, enthusiastic teaching and original ideas to inspire and motivate them. We have not completed all the jobs we want to do in this area, new resources and equipment are still to be obtained, so our official launch of this area will be in May - watch this space!
An early half term means a short start to this term, however a lot of action will be packed into this time. Many sports events are already organised, dates will be displayed on the sports section of the website. The school play is being prepared, reports are being written (Yr2 and above have reports on Feb 6th and lower classes have reports at the end of the term), trips and residential stays are being organised. We have Tea with the Head Afternoons, Toddler Times and Tiny Events all planned. Please keep your eyes on the website and remember to check bags for notes that may still come home.
Last year was a very successful year for the school with two very good inspections being completed. We can now build on the positive endorsements that the inspectors gave us and move into a new era of achievement. We look forward to you sharing this journey with us.
