Half Term Memories

This break has certainly been welcomed by both the staff and the children. Many of you were able to visit warmer climes, some people went skiing & others have rested at home. One of my favourite memories from this break has to be the Digital Photography Club's visit to Tropical Wings. We had a great day improving our camera skills, getting close to wildlife and having fun! Do visit Phanfare to see the special photographic comic created from images taken on the day. I'm now planning the next trip - I wonder where we'll go................??

We will also be entering some of our photographs into the Sony World Photography Awards (The Prince's Rainforests Project Schools Competition) , do click on the link if you are interested in finding out more.

Parents Association Newsletter

Dear All

Before half term we thought we would give you a note of some events that we are organising this year. I am sure that there will be another one or two that we will think of but these are the biggies for you to put into your diary.

Saturday, 14th March – Quiz Night
We are sorry that the original date had to be postponed. It is never an easy decision to postpone an event but sometimes it is necessary. In this case we didn’t have enough people. Hopefully you have now been given plenty of notice and you will be able to secure a babysitter. A letter will be out when we get back from half term.

Friday 27th March – Easter Egg Hunt
Mr. Gladwin has kindly allowed us to impinge on school time and hold our Easter Egg Hunt at 1.30pm – 3.30pm. We will also be organising a MUFTI day so make sure you send your cherubims in with a £1 coin for the privilege of wearing their civvies.

Saturday 16th May – Summer Ball For The Children
Instead of a Christmas disco we thought that we would have a summer ball for the children, so that the girls can dress up to the nine and the boys can look dapper. We will let you know nearer the time where this will be held, but we anticipate that it will be between the hours of 4 – 6.30pm.

Saturday 20th June
This should be the evening of the year! Your child can choose a song that he or she would like to sing in front of a panel of judges (or they can sing in a group with their friends). The judges will then give an honest opinion and choose a winner from all the participants. Please feel free to make a banner supporting your favourite singer. Get your child practicing now! There will also be a prize for the best costume. Forms will be out in April. ( Click here to see the photos of "Stars In Their Eyes" previous PA events for ideas).

Coffee Mornings
As mentioned in our last newsletter we would like to hold coffee mornings so that we can bring all the mums, dads, grandparents and guardians together rather than just politely smile in the playground. A small amount of second hand uniform will be out too. We have decided to coincide these coffee mornings with Toddler Time. The dates are as follows: 12th March, 13th May and 8th June. We will remind you nearer the time.

If you are able to help on any of the above events then we will be more than grateful. Also, if you are in a position to help us with music for the 20th June or a hairstylist or make-up then please let us know.

Many thanks for reading and have a good half term.

Chair, Parents Association

P.S. We still have a number of Tupperware dishes left over from the cake morning. If you think that you are missing one please let us know.

Form II & VI - Trip to Lian's Restaurant

Forms II & VI visited Lian's today (a Chinese restaurant in Witham) to link with their studies on Ancient China and exploring Chinese culture.
The children, fathers, staff and guests were welcomed by Mr. Kim Mann and served a wonderful selection of Chinese foods to sample. Afterwards both children and fathers took the opportunity to participate in the Lion Dance and play the instruments. The children both watched a demonstration of and participated in noodle making which was very exciting (have a look at the Videos!)

They saw a carrot carving demonstration and were greeted by the God of Prosperity who handed out Lucky Red Packets.
A great lunch was had by all and we would all like to thank Mr. Mann for showing us such a
wonderful time.
