Heathcote Preparatory School and Nursery celebrated the 20th World Book Day in style with all our pupils dressing up as animal book characters. What an amazing array of animals there were who came into school this morning!
Today all the children took part in a costume parade, a book hunt, story readings and they also completed lots of exciting writing activities such as redesigning their animal story book covers and writing fact files about their own invented animal species.
The highlight of the day was the announcement of the library design competition winners for the new Heathcote School libraries. The children’s imagination shone in their creative entries with ideas such as an enchanted forest, a word tree, a living room design, a mystery corner, a sensory room and wigwams. Congratulations to Emily Holmes for her winning Key Stage One design, ‘Under the Sea’ and Melissa Vinton for her winning Key Stage Two design with her multi-level treehouse.
