Heathcote School is taking our responsibilities for our children and staff very seriously and are adhering to the guidance of Public Health England, the Department for Education and the Independent School Association. We are holding regular meetings to adapt as the situation develops to ensure we keep our children safe. We are managing our response in a way that is proportionate, calm and informed. We will update this page regularly as the situation develops and / or as we implement further measures to keep our community safe.
Following the guidance from the UK Government, our school has opened fully to all of our pupils from Nursery to Year 6. Parents who do not wish to send their children to school will be provided with online learning materials through our Microsoft Teams platform. Our live online lessons will not be continuing with the majority of pupils back in school. Parents have received detailed information regarding our health and safety procedures including staggered drop off and pick up times.
Government advice is now as follows:
You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.
Ensure you are using trusted sources if you are using the internet to find out information regarding coronavirus. Recommended sources are NHS or UK Government Response including the links in the “Useful Links” section below.
Throughout lockdown, pupils continued their learning through daily live online classroom lessons with their teachers; a set of comprehensive tools and materials were used to ensure pupils continuedt to progress. Daily live lessons were held in Maths & English as well as additional lessons in Science, Technology, Languages, Art, PE, PHSRE and CRE.
Now that pupils are back in school, classroom teaching has been re-instated, with teachers providing individual regular feedback to pupils on their progress. Our online platform will continue to be used for summer holiday work. Pupils who have not returned because they are shielding or isolating are still receiving lessons via our online platform.
We are extremely proud of our pupils, teachers and parents for embracing this new way of learning.
Our holiday club remains closed at this time. It is our intention to re-open as soon as we possibly can with due regard to guidance and health and safety.
