Coronavirus Information

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Up to date information for parents and children

Heathcote School is taking our responsibilities for our children and staff very seriously and are adhering to the guidance of Public Health England, the Department for Education and the Independent School Association.  We are holding regular meetings to adapt as the situation develops to ensure we keep our children safe.  We are managing our response in a way that is proportionate, calm and informed.  We will update this page regularly as the situation develops and / or as we implement further measures to keep our community safe.

Latest advice

Following the guidance from the UK Government on Tuesday 18th March, we closed our school grounds to the majority of pupils  on Friday 20th March 2020. We remain fully open for our pupils of key workers.  Our Heathcote pupils who are staying at home are continuing their learning journeys through daily live online classroom lessons with their teachers.  It is our intention to open our school grounds as soon as we possibly can with due regard to guidance and health and safety.

Government advice is now as follows:

  • stay at home as much as possible
  • work from home if you can
  • limit contact with other people
  • keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)
  • wash your hands regularly

You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.

Ensure you are using trusted sources if you are using the internet to find out information regarding coronavirus.  Recommended sources are NHS or UK Government Response including the links in the “Useful Links” section below.

Live off-site teacher-led learning

Pupils are continuing their learning through daily live online classroom lessons with their teachers; a set of comprehensive tools and materials are being used to ensure pupils are progressing.  Maths & English are continuing to be taught daily as well as additional lessons in Science, Technology, Languages, Art, PE, PHSRE and CRE.  Teachers are providing individual regular feedback to pupils on their progress.  Additional technology support has been provided and is available for families who need it.  We are extremely proud of our pupils, teachers and parents for embracing this new way of learning.

Comprehensive information has been provided to parents and families via ParentMail and email.

Holiday Club

Our holiday club remains closed at this time.  It is our intention to re-open as soon as we possibly can with due regard to guidance and health and safety.

Cleansing of school

We maintain high standards of cleaning and maintenance across our whole site and are taking extra precautions to avoid contamination.
