When my own children were younger often they would be able to have a sleepover at their grandparents house and would get to listen to someone else read a story. I realised that your children may not get to experience this at the moment and – whilst I am definitely not a professional story teller – I might be able to offer them a story read by someone different. Therefore I have recorded six stories aimed specifically at PrePrep pupils, although older children may hopefully enjoy them.
They’re all on YouTube. Click on the links below:
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury
Paddington by Michael Bond
Meg’s Castle by Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski
The Smartest Giant in Town by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler
Shaggy Dog and the Terrible Itch by David Bedford and Gwyneth Williamson
Really, Really by Kes Gray and Nick Sharratt
I also recorded one longer story split into sections aimed at older pupils: ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy.
I hope the children enjoy them, I imagined we were in the classroom together and I was sharing a book with them, something that every primary teacher loves! Although I must admit being alone and reading to the dog isn’t quite the same but I did my best!
